Biography
Nadine Blixt is a PTA student from NWTC who is poised to graduate on May 17, 2019.
In
1990, Nadine graduated form Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI with a Bachelor's of Social Work. Shortly
after, she and her former husband began traveling with the USAF
and started a family. Wanting to avoid having their children in
daycare, Nadine worked part-time for the next 18 years to be more
available to raise her children. She worked in schools as a regular and
special ed. parapro, was a certified Parent Educator for the Parents As
Teachers Program, and a classroom aide and home visitor with the Early
On program, where she also created and edited their early childhood
newsletter for 10 years. Nadine worked in child development centers and
as a private duty nanny. After being out of the social work field so long, she landed a job as Program Director for the
Regional Treatment Center at Teaching Family Homes through Boy's Town. That experience made her realize it was time for a change.
In
2015, Nadine relocated to Green Bay, WI and enrolled in the PTA program
at NWTC, beginning a new chapter of her life. She was married last
summer and now resides in Hibbing, MN with her husband Tony. She is
completing her clinical rotations in Northern MN and will seek
employment there upon graduation. At present, Nadine has not chosen a
patient population of preference. Whatever that may be, she will strive
to assist her patients in attaining their maximum potential and highest
level of function.
