Reflections...
As a student we are members of APTA and I plan to keep my membership going as a licensed PTA. I feel the access to research alone makes the cost of the membership worth it. Throughout our time as students we have had to do many papers and assignments utilizing research and the APTA website has been a valuable resource. It also good to be part of a professional organization to make it easier to stay abreast of changes and important issues and current events in field.
Since I already took my national board exam and passed, as soon as the state receives my final transcripts, I will be licensed to practice as a PTA in Minnesota. I am excited about that as I already have a job that I will be starting in late May at Haven PT in Nashwauk, MN.
My first clinical rotation was with Big Stone Therapies. They invite any student who did a clinical with them to participate in an in-service of their choice, even after their rotation is complete. I plan to take advantage of that opportunity to begin increasing my knowledge and satisfying my requirements for continuing education hours.
